It is unknown who built and why the temple was built around the 8th century. The most believable view is that it was used as training and meditation spaces built by Sailendra dynasty. The biggest World Heritage was under ground over 1,000 years and found by British adminal, Thomas Raffles in 1814. After the repair, it became a sightseeing spot. The temple itself is a vision of the universe and has over 1,400 reliefs of Life of the Buddha and Buddhist Scripture. Looking those relifs and going up to the top will make the spirit purified.
※ Due to the eruption of Mt. Merapi, the 8th to 10th floors with The big and small stupas were closed, but has opened again since September 22, 2011.
There are 1460 reliefs from the first to 4th terraces. Especially, the relief of Life of Buddha is must to see!
The entrance of the Herritage is at the East stairs. It is believed that touching the front side of the stupa make dream come true.
There are 72 stupas on the top of the first to third platforms. Each one has a statue of Buddha inside.
This temple is the largest scale in Indonesia among Hindu temples which was built around the 8th century by the Sanjaya king of the Mataram Kingdom, Balitung Maha Sambu. It is also called one of the greatest Java buildings same as Borobudur Heritage. There are 6 temples where Hindu gods including Shiva and Vishnu are offered. The stone statues around the temple and the relifes are recommended people who like the curvings and the buildings as well. It is still under the repair because of the damage from the earthquake in the central Java.
The center of the Temple, Shiva Temple (47m in height) is a great photo spot.
Brahma Temple and Vishnu Temple are located sides of Shiva Temple. Each temple has various statues.

This is a small temple inside of Borobudur Heritage. It is facing rowards the holy land of Buddism, Benares and the statue of the Tathagata is known as the greatest statue among Java art. Borobudur is a symbol of "Paradise". On the other hand, Mundut is "Passion".
The 60th old-established Batik Shop, "Batik Plentong" has a factory that you can watch batik dyeing next to the shop. They have various selections of the Batik items including men's shirts and ladies' dress.
This Hindu Temple surrounding Prambanan and the treble walls and stylobates was built in the 9th century and found in 1966 from under the 5m depth of the ground. There is the statues of Durga, Ganesha and Agastya and Lingga inside of the temple which look after easy labor and children.
The downtown area in Jogjakarta has many restaurants and hotels and is always busy with many tourists and locals. The street markets for tourists are open from afternoon and ones locals hang out and have meals can be seen at night. The Transportation, "Becak" is famous.
The water palace, Taman Sari in Jogjakarta city was built in 1751 by Hamengkubuwono I from Mataram Kingdom. It is known as a bathing area in the flower garden that female servants working in the palace under the king's observation.
The palace next to Taman Sari was built for center of the politics in 1755. Hamengkubuwono I who was both a king and an architect considered the battle against Dutch and built the thick walls around the building to prevent the attack.
The 55th old-established silver shop, "Ansor Silver" is near Borobudur Heritage. They have over thousands of gorgeous and sensitive designs of silver accessories including earrings and necklaces. The most popular accessory, "Gamelan Ball" has different prices depending on the sizes.
Rumah Sleman is located on the way from Borobudur to Jogjakarta. The traditional Java building was a prince house of Islamic kingdom, a royal family, Solo and is now used as hotel and restaurant. Andon Tour to go around the village by horse carriage is available.
